The presentation Tools of Self-Protection is based on the
chapter of the same name in my book, The Spirit of Health:
Mind-to-Toe Self-Care for Women.
This presentation benefits both women and men, and it
contains very important information for high school and
college aged students---information they need to know to be
safe on campus and away from home.
The Tools of Self-Protection teaches common sense ways to
be safer in your home, your car, on the street--and in life in
general. This program should not be confused with a "self-
defense" class. While those classes are certainly helpful,
they focus on teaching people how to defend themselves
and how to fight.
This program takes a rational leap forward and
teaches you how to avoid situations
where you have to defend yourself
in the first place!
Through this presentation,
you will learn this and much more:
* How to emit the air of ease and self-confidence--and not
the energy of a potential victim.
* The common bodily traits that attract an attacker, and how
to avoid them.
* How to make your home more secure--it's your castle, so
make it as safe as possible.
* What two bits of common advice of "health advisors"
should you avoid like the plague?
* What not to do if approached by a vicious dog.
* How to make yourself immune to "nice-itis"...a condition
with a whole range of potentially severe symptoms...
And much more you need to know!
Too often victims of crime reflect back, and say, "Something
told me not to go there...." Or "My gut instinct told me not to
trust that person, or that something was not quite right..." "If
only I would have listened to my instincts." "I never thought
it would happen to me...."
No one is immune to crime. But with common sense and
inner-wisdom, it is possible to avoid being in the wrong
place at the wrong time. Tools of Self-Protection teaches you
how to use your "tools" of gut instinct, of feelings that
are telling you something's not "quite right." Tools of
Self-Protection will help you to be safe, to remain safe, and
to recognize "unsafe" before it strikes!
